Warranty papers
Three papers, kept apart
The maker of each product writes its own warranty. Ours covers our work. We keep them separate so you know whose promise is whose.
The makers' warranties
Shingles, windows, siding and gutters each come with a paper from the company that made them. Its term and what it covers are written on it, and we register each one for you.
The system paper
When the shingles, underlayment and vents are bought together, some makers write one paper for the whole roof. The estimate says whether one is offered.
Our workmanship page
It is a page in your contract. It names the years, the parts of the job it covers and what it does not, such as storm damage, other trades' work or lack of upkeep.

Questions
About warranties and papers
Are you licensed and insured?
Iowa registers construction contractors but does not test them, so the registration shows that the business is on file. Our registration and our insurance are listed in the footer of every page, and a certificate of insurance goes to you before work starts.
What do you do if you find rot behind the old siding?
We stop and show you a photo. Rotted sheathing is written up on a change sheet with its price, and nothing is done until both of us have signed it.
Ask to see the papers first
We will show you a sample workmanship page and a maker's warranty before you sign.
